Excellence Health Inc. acquires rights for oncology drug
LAS VEGAS, NV
Excellence Health Inc. today announced that they have entered into an agreement with two independent research institutions, which prefer to remain non-disclosed, under which Excellence Health will be granted the rights for a phase 1 development drug candidate, for the treatment of advanced breast cancer.
First studies show that the candidate has the potential to stop the cancer from spreading to the brain, lungs and liver.
The candidate seems also to have less adverse effects than other drugs in this therapy field.
"We are excited about the potential for this drug candidate and intend to partner with the two research institutions to investigate & develop this novel, botanically derived drug candidate with the hope of providing a new treatment option for patients & doctors for this devastating disease,” said Luca L. Jungbauer, Senior Officer for Licensing & Partnerships at Excellence Health.
Under the agreement, Excellence Health will make an upfront payment to both R&D institutions of $80 million. Excellence Health will fund all development costs. Both research institutions are also eligible to receive milestone payments exceeding $420 million for the successful development and commercialization of the above mentioned candidate, as well as single-digit royalties on any licensing.
