Mother and daughter creates new app for the equestrian world; ”Planning Pegasus”

About two years ago; Linn Erixon Sahlström in Sweden started to think about how one could simplify the daily equestrian life.  She had for a long time been missing a quick and efficient way of getting hold of new or changed information concerning her horse and the stable. The goal was to save precious time. To use the white board in the stable to communicate with all persons involved in a horse, felt very out of date.

How to do it?

She  started to discuss her ideas and thoughts with her mother, Annika Sahlström, who herself had been riding in her early years; still active and  interested in the equestrian life. With their experience and views on how to simplify the daily horselife – they began to write down a wish list on what the app should consist of.  What is it everybody needs to know – and how can you expose it easily? A lot of sketches, ideas and discussions led to a meeting with a technical developing company – Lunicore AB, connected to the University of Lund in Sweden.

A group was set together with a specialist to develop Android and a specialist on Iphone.  Linn and Annika Sahlström worked closley with them for over 6 months to get the app as tailor made as possible. Planning Pegasus was created; a social calender for both Android and iPhone;  with plan, chat and share functions.  A website, planningpegasus.com was connected to make all monitoring and input easier.

Add a horse to every event and share the information

The calender works as a normal calender with the difference that one can add a horse to every event. There are fields to fill in all the necessary information about one horse such as vaccination, veterinary and farrier visits. Each horse get its own colour, so it is easier to see what horse is current for activites in the calender. To share a horse with another Planning Pegasus user, makes the shared horse and its activities visible in you own calender.

-          ”It has really been very stimulating developing an app together with my daughter, entering a new world, says Annika Sahlström. Tough discussions sometimes, but that moves things forward. Also extremley stimulating to know now that our product/app is out there to simplify the daily horse life – and has been sold all over the world – Singapore, the US, Australia, Canada and many countries in Europe as well”,  concludes Annika Sahlström.

The app costs USD 5
