UT Law Graduate to Speak at Upcoming GAHCC Event
The Small Business Series Will Focus on Liability Basics for Texas Entrepreneurs

Austin, Texas (June 6, 2012) – The Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Time Warner Business Class, is proud to announce the second part of their Small Business Series on June 12, 2012. Held at the Holiday Inn Midtown, the session will be presented by Manuel Escobar, associate with McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, LLP.

How to protect yourself from liability is the most common question Chamber members and small business owners want answered. This session will cover the effects that claims may have on the small business owner, as well as how to stay protected from liability.

“Paying careful attention to the language in your contracts and your business documents is one of the most important things you can do to protect your assets and your business,” said Manuel Escobar, associate, McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, LLP. “If someone gives you money or sets foot on your business’ property, they are a potential claimant.”

This four-part series focuses on small business education. Each session is presented by local experts on varying topics, including tax, marketing and technology.

“The Small Business Series provides Austin’s small business owners with the information they need to establish, sustain and grow their business,” said Andy Martinez, president, GAHCC. “The strength of Austin’s business community is essential to the overall growth of our city’s economy. At the Chamber, we are dedicated to providing business owners with the resources they need to succeed.”

The cost to attend the Small Business Series – Legal is $25 for GAHCC members and $35 for non-members. There will be free parking and breakfast is included.

For more information about the Small Business Series, contact Sigrid Miranda, membership manager, by calling 512.476.4314 or emailing smiranda@gahcc.org.
