Halo Genomics Signs Co-Marketing Agreement with Life Technologies to Combine Target Enrichment Kits with Next-Generation Sequencing Platforms

Halo Genomics proprietary Selector technology™ enables enrichment of regions of interest in the human genome for targeted resequencing applications. Using a simple, four step protocol, thousands of genomic target fragments are amplified simultaneously in a single reaction tube without the need for dedicated instrumentation. Researchers can design assays for their own genes of interest with the Selector Design Wizard, available at www.halogenomics.com.

Halo Genomics’ products fit well with Life Technologies’ soon to be released AB Library Builder™ System, a bench-top device that automates the library construction process associated with DNA sequencing.  Library Builder improves data reproducibility while saving researchers significant time in the lab.

According to one customer, Dr. Edwin Cuppen, Professor of Human Genetics and head of the Complex Genetics section, Dept of Medical Genetics, UMC Utrecht, the Netherlands;  "Using the Halo Genomics Selector Technology in combination with SOLiD sequencing we have achieved specificity (>95%) that is unparalleled by any other enrichment technology. Combined with the high accuracy and low false error rate of the SOLiD system we have established a very powerful approach for clinical sequencing."

“We are committed to providing labs of all sizes with solutions for targeted resequencing applications “, said Mark Gardner, Vice President of Life Technologies. “Halo Genomics’ technology provides superior specificity and uniform coverage.  When combined with 5500 Series SOLiD Sequencers, researchers have access to unparalleled accuracy and sensitivity needed for clinical research applications”.

The 5500 SOLiD Series is For Research Use Only.  Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
