Your Chance to Quiz the 2010 Nobel Laureates on YouTube and Facebook

What question would you ask one of this year’s Nobel Laureates if you had the chance? Visitors to the Nobel Prize YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/thenobelprize) and Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/Nobelprize.org) have the unique opportunity to do just that, thanks to the latest session of “Ask a Nobel Laureate” from Nobelprize.org.

Imagine a sheet of material that's just one atom thick, yet super-strong, highly conductive, practically transparent and could be used for touch screens, fast transistors and DNA sequencing. That's graphene, isolated by 2010 Nobel Laureates in Physics, Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov. Novoselov is the youngest Physics Laureate since 1973, age 36 years old.

Richard F. Heck, Ei-ichi Negishi and Akira Suzuki share the 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for developing new, more efficient ways of linking carbon atoms together to build complex molecules that improve our everyday lives, such as those used in pharmaceuticals, agriculture and electronics. The 2010 Nobel Laureate in Literature, Mario Vargas Llosa, is one of the most acclaimed writers in the Spanish-speaking world, a master of dialogue and complex characterization who believes in the power of fiction to improve the world.  This year's Laureates in Economic Sciences, Peter A. Diamond, Dale T. Mortensen and Christopher A. Pissarides, have created mathematical models which provide the framework for studying the complex dynamics of the housing and labor markets.

These Laureates are ready to answer your questions – to find out more about them visit Nobelprize.org (http://nobelprize.org). Due to current circumstances, the Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, Robert Edwards and Liu Xiaobo, the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, are not able to participate.

Visit the Nobel Prize YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/thenobelprize) or the NobelPrize.org Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/Nobelprize.org) to submit your questions. Video or text questions will be accepted (though video questions are preferred), and you can vote for your favorite questions that have already been posted. The deadline to submit questions is 1 November 2010. The Nobel Laureates will then answer a selection of questions in December and their answers will be uploaded on the Nobel Prize YouTube channel.

If you are in Stockholm, and visit the Nobel Museum, Stortorget 2, Gamla Stan, on 26 October – 31 October, we are offering free entrance to anyone who submits a video question to the 2010 Laureates.
