The Nobel Week 2014

The programme of the Nobel Week 2014 in Stockholm will include press conferences, lectures and other events. On 10 December, it culminates in the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and the Nobel Banquet. The Nobel Foundation has collected useful information for media representatives who plan to cover the 2014 Nobel Week.

The application deadline for the limited number of accreditations available for print and photo journalists to attend the Nobel Day was November 7.

Print journalists

The Nobel Foundation provides 12 seats at the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and the Nobel Banquet for foreign print journalists and 7 seats for domestic print journalists. An application for participation is no guarantee of actually obtaining a ticket. Notification of ticket allocation will be made in late November. The Nobel Banquet fee is SEK 2500 (to be paid at the Nobel Desk, Grand Hôtel).

Pool photographers

A maximum of 10 still photographers from international and Swedish photo agencies will be allowed in the photo pool at the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and the Nobel Banquet, respectively. Accreditations to the participants in the Photo Pool will be handed out on December 10 by representatives from the Nobel Foundation.

Live feeds and/or news edits and stand-up positions

Broadcasters interested in live feeds and/or news edits from both these events, please contact the rights holder Nobel Media at broadcast@nobelmedia.se and see www.nobelprize.org/livebroadcasts for more details about transmission times and licensing.

SVT, Swedish Public Television has exclusive filming rights to the Nobel Prize Ceremony and Banquet events in Stockholm, so there is limited access for TV teams at the locations. However, SVT is providing broadcast services (stand-up positions, tape playouts etc) at the event locations. The Nobel Day is celebrated at the Nobel Museum. The Nobel Prize Award Ceremonies and the Nobel Banquet is shown on a big screen and the staff, all dressed up, is available for answering questions.

Dress Code

Nobel Prize Award Ceremony: Dark suit for gentlemen and short or long dress for ladies. At the Nobel Banquet, gentlemen are required to wear white tie and tails, and long evening gown for ladies. Thus, if attending both ceremonies, white tie and tails for gentlemen and evening gown for ladies apply. Dress code for pool photographers is dark suit/long dress or dark two-piece suit at both events.

Hotel Reservations

Kindly note that it is often difficult to find hotel rooms in Stockholm at this time. You are, therefore, advised to make your own booking as soon as possible.
