Ovelin launches GuitarBots - the online game that changes the way people learn to play the guitar

Ovelin ltd. announced today the release of their second title GuitarBots, an innovative guitar learning game played online with any real guitar – acoustic or electric.  GuitarBots takes the concept of gamified guitar learning introduced in the company’s previous title WildChords to a whole new level, offering challenges both for the beginner and more advanced guitarists.

GuitarBots takes the player on an intergalactic quest of guitar  mastery. To save an oncoming space concert, the player has to learn basic guitar skills. In order to advance in the game, the player has to unlock new songs and practice areas by playing songs correctly with a band. This game-like progression makes it fun and motivating to develop real guitar skills.

”Everyone has the potential to learn to play a musical instrument – The key to success is to keep practicing, especially in the early phases.” said Christoph Thür, the CEO and co-founder of Ovelin. “GuitarBots makes guitar practice more fun and motivating, which in turn makes learning easier.”

GuitarBots is suitable for all ages and skill levels, featuring step-by-step tutorials, a built-in tuner and a variety of songs with both beginner and advanced difficulty levels.

“We wanted to make GuitarBots easy to start, even if you’ve never played the guitar. The game starts by teaching you how to tune the guitar, and guides you step-by-step to more advanced skills”, said Mikko Kaipainen, the COO and co-founder. “More advanced users can choose to skip the basics and start playing the more difficult songs right away”

Starting with GuitarBots is simple – you can play the game directly on your web browser. The game is played with a real guitar (acoustic or electric), using the computer’s microphone to “listen” to the chords and notes played. No cables or other complicated setup is needed.

GuitarBots is available online for Mac and PC computers on the web browser. Mobile device (tablet and phone) clients are currently in development and will be announced in the near future.
