A major deal for pharmaceuticals company DuoCort

Oct 27, 2011 16:00 EDT DuoCort AB has reached an agreement with pharmaceuticals company ViroPharma Incorporated to sell its subsidiary DuoCort Pharma AB with Plenadren®, a new treatment for adrenal insufficiency, also known as Addison’s disease. Plenadren was developed in house by DuoCort Pharma AB. The total value of the deal is over SEK 1 billion.

The molecule is essential to the virus that causes the serious eye disease epidemic keratoconjunctivitis (EKC). Currently, there is no approved therapy to treat this highly contagious eye infection.
