Tobii Launches New Studio 3.2 Offering Researchers Powerful Segment Analysis, Advanced Visualization of Eye-tracking Data

STOCKHOLM & WASHINGTON, Dec. 18, 2012 —Tobii Technology, the global leader in eye tracking and gaze interaction, today released Tobii Studio 3.2, a new version of its  innovative research analytics software that will give the world’s scientific and market research communities the most powerful tools available for segment-based analysis and visualization of
eye-tracking data.

“As partners of the world’s leading research organizations, we are committed to the continuing evolution and advancement of eye-tracking research,” said Tom Englund, president of
analysis solutions at Tobii. “We are really excited about all the innovations in Tobii Studio 3.2 — such as streamlined segment-based analysis — that will help open new areas of insight and exploration for many kinds of research.”

Highlights of the critical new functions within Tobii Studio 3.2 include:

  • Segment-based analysis: Allows users to create visualizations and
calculate statistics for select recording sequences within a recording and
across multiple recordings. This streamlines the analysis process by
filtering out irrelevant data and facilitating task-based analysis, and it
increases the accuracy and quality of results.
  • Segment groups: Enables researchers to aggregate and analyze data from
disparate recording sequences, even when the behavior naturally occurs at
different time intervals for different participants in the same study. For
example, segment groupings can be based on behaviors or reactions to
specific shelf displays during shopper insight study sessions, or groupings
can be based on tasks performed during Web usability sessions,
    facilitating task-based analysis.
  • Enhanced visualization tool:  Delivers the ability to replay directly in the software animated visualizations (gaze plots, heat maps and clusters) for all stimuli types, making analysis more efficient. In addition, visualization settings are more accessible and easier to customize and save, and visualizations can be filtered by segment group.

“A tool that lets researchers perform segment-based analysis within segment groups is extremely
powerful because it helps researchers achieve a more granular and efficient analysis of Tobii Glasses recordings, Web recordings and even dynamic screen stimuli,”
said Barbara Barclay, general manager of Tobii North America.
