Daisho Creative Strategies Hosts Career Session For Students At Miami International University of Art and Design
MIAMI – In a competitive job environment, it takes determination to succeed in a career in the art and design industries. “You have to be willing to do whatever it takes to get established in your career,” said Frank Irias, president and co-owner of Daisho Creative Strategies, a Miami-based marketing and design firm.
Irias gave that advice to 40 seniors at Miami International University of Art & Design at a recent career-planning seminar. Together with representatives from W Hotels’ The Store, Sak’s Fifth Avenue, Tepino Intergrated Branding, Channel 7, and Building Center No.3, Irias provided insights and answered students’ questions about how to break into the market.
“As an alumnus who maintains a strong relationship with the university, I believe in the importance of education and welcome the opportunity to give back to my alma mater,” said Irias. “Our seminar focused on how to break into the market – a topic of keen interest to the Class of 2012.”
Established in 1965, Miami International University of Art & Design is one of The Art Institutes; a system of over 45 education institutions located throughout North America, providing an important source of design, media arts, visual arts, fashion and culinary arts professionals. Located in downtown Miami, Miami International University of Art & Design’s programs are designed to help develop creativity and to make each student marketable to employers after graduation.
“In my experience, you need a true desire to succeed,” Irias told the students. “It’s not a matter of wondering if your career will happen. You have to be determined to make things happen for yourself.”
That same determination has propelled Irias forward since arriving in Florida from Nicaragua at the age of 13. After high school, he attended MIU, formally known as International Fine Arts College and earned a degree in commercial arts in 1992.
Irias returned to Nicaragua at age 27. Five years later, he returned to Miami as creative and marketing director for one of the region’s largest offset printing shops. In 2007, he joined with John Keepax to establish Daisho Creative Strategies.
