Shazam Continues to Drive Awards Show Success with AMAs

ABC Broadcast Was Promoted to Millions of Shazam Music Fans

AMAs Shazamed 450,000 Times, a 300% Increase from 2012 AMAs

New York, NY – November 25, 2013 - Shazam®, the world’s leading media engagement company, announced today the results for the 2013 American Music Awards last night on the ABC Television Network.  Prior to the show, Shazam promoted the AMAs to millions of music fans to tune-in to the show, helping to increase the ratings of the broadcast.  Following on the heels of an incredibly successful CMA Awards broadcast, people Shazamed the AMAs 450,000 times – a 300% increase over the 2012 AMAs broadcast last year.

Viewers could Shazam the show to access exclusive content including a behind the scenes video of Pitbull’s new video, “Timber”, featuring Ke$ha and a free download of Ariana Grande’s single, “Tattooed Heart.”  The Shazam App made it easy to follow the Awards ceremony as it happened, keeping track of nominees and the Awards presented. 

People went directly from Shazam’s AMA Awards experience to iTunes and Amazon tens of thousands of times during the broadcast to buy the tracks and albums of the nominees, winners, and performers – this does not include the two free tracks available for download. 

Shazam promoted the event a variety of ways, including via the News feed, which was introduced in the Shazam App earlier this month and has become a place that keeps fans informed about the artists, TV shows, and brands they love.
