Japanese ramen and Vietnamese pho are enjoying increased popularity from Munich to Manhattan. More and more soup restaurants are opening their doors, ensuring the ren-aissance of European classics like minestrone, bouillabaisse and potato soup. Further-more, the American food trend "Bowl", involving the combining of healthy ingredients like steamed vegetables, fresh salad and rice or quinoa, is booming. All of which makes the demand for stylish, soup bowls greater than ever before. Villeroy & Boch has there-fore developed Soup Passion for all those lovers of soups and bowls, a collection that scores not only with design but also with functionality.
Design and recipe inspiration from the Far East
Inspired by the soup culture of Asia, Villeroy & Boch has designed two differently sized bowls with integrated rests for chopsticks or spoons, and a matching tray. There is, however, no need restrict their use to Asian food. The smaller version is intended for starters, but is also perfect for miso soups. The lid with its three compartments is ideal for serving toppings like soya bean sprouts and coriander. The large soup bowl can be used for ramen soups or equally well for stews. The handy ceramic tray facilitates car-rying and makes it possible to eat comfortably anywhere. The tray is also suitable for presenting an attractive collection of starters with double-walled glasses. The Asian bowls are complemented by chopsticks and a ceramic spoon.
Enjoyment right down to the last drop
It doesn't matter whether the soup is being served as a main course or a starter, Soup Passion provides bowls in two sizes suitable for any soup or stew. And the design caters not only for the soup: the bowls consist of two separate halves so that the soup or stew and bread or accompaniments can be served separately. The inner side of the bowl is slanted, allowing every last drop of the soup to be enjoyed. The smaller half of the bowl is suitable for side-dishes and is ergonomically formed to provide a good grip for carry-ing.
Innovative extras for the new soup culture
As oils, herbs and relishes are often served with soups to allow individual seasoning, Soup Passion includes beautifully formed little topping dishes. There is also a tureen perfect for anyone who wants to impress with the presentation of their soup or stew. It is available in two sizes, for four potions or for one. The tureens are heat resistant and can also be used in the oven. Hidden under the handle on the large tureen is a recess for the serving spoon.
An innovative hot/cool stone made of Premium Porcelain completes the range of arti-cles from Soup Passion. It is so small and narrow that it can be warmed up in any toaster and then placed in the bread basket. The freshly baked bread or rolls thus stay warm for longer. And if cold or iced soup is being served, then the stone can be cooled in the freezer for use as a tablemat.
