Osstell
Jan 24, 2012 16:04 CETThe Osstell ISQ Symposium 2011 took place in Athens, Greece in October at the Annual Meeting of the EAO. You now have the opportunity to watch the presentations by Dr. Jan Gottlow, Prof. Peter Moy, and Dr. Paolo Trisi online at www.osstell.com. Listen as these leading authorities share their experience of working with the Osstell ISQ instrument and reveal how Osstell is used as a decision support tool to assess and decide treatment protocols and reduce treatment risks for dental implants.
Prof. Peter Moy (Professor, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Nobel Biocare Endowed Chair, Surgical Implant Dentistry. Director, Straumann Surgical Dental Center. UCLA, School of Dentistry, USA), who has more than a decade’s experience of working with Osstell, presents clinical guidelines derived from more than 1,000 patient treatments – all assessed using Osstell ISQ measurements. The guidelines describe different indications and how to use Osstell ISQ in various clinical situations.
Dr. Jan Gottlow (Researcher at the Department of Biomaterials, Institute for Clinical Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, private practice in Gothenburg, Sweden) provides a thorough background presentation of the history of the Osstell ISQ and RFA technology, including clinical data and suggestions as to which values to expect in different clinical situations.
Dr. Paolo Trisi (Adjunct Professor, University of Chieti. Adjunct Professor, University of Naples. Private Practice in Pescara, Italy) presents how ISQ is clearly related to micro motion. Micro motion is a physically measureable way of describing the implant’s ability to withstand lateral load. It is defined as how much the implant moves when a certain lateral force is applied. It is known that implant micro motion has to be limited in order to achieve osseointegration.
