A kids perspective on COP29

A kids perspective on COP29

At COP29, leaders from around the world came together to discuss how to protect our planet from climate change. One of the big decisions was that richer countries promised to provide $300 billion each year by 2035 to help poorer countries deal with climate challenges. This money will assist them in switching to cleaner energy and preparing for extreme weather events like floods and droughts.

However, some people feel that this amount isn't enough to solve all the problems. They believe more funds are needed to make a real difference. Additionally, there were talks about creating a global carbon market, which would allow countries to trade "carbon credits" to help reduce overall emissions.

Even though COP29 made some progress, many think there's still a lot of work to do to ensure a safe and healthy planet for kids like me and future generations. The next big meeting, COP30, will be in Belém, Brazil, where leaders will continue these important discussions.

As a young person, I hope that all countries work together to protect our Earth, so we can enjoy its beauty and wonders for many years to come.
