Dubai launches art-themed Japanese sushi restaurant
ARABIAN BUSINESS: UAE-based Silver Spoon Investments (SSI) opened its first restaurant, Japanese ‘Atisuto’, in the newly opened Galleria Mall on Wasl Road. The restaurant’s theme was inspired by sushi restaurants found in the backstreets of Japan’s major cities. Atisuto, meaning ‘artist’ in Japanese, is filled with graffiti-covered walls inspired by avant-garde artists who admired Japanese culture and expressed themselves freely by painting directly on the walls and floors. The opening of the restaurant was headed by one of Dubai’s leading sushi chefs, Chef Aijiro. Founded in 2013, SSI Group is based on the idea of local sourcing within the UAE. Almost everything in Atisuto, from the gnarled wood to the fish, is home-grown.
