  • Krøyer’s Final Masterpiece Sold for DKK 4.3 Million

    The first international auction at Bruun Rasmussen in Copenhagen was kicked off in style on Tuesday! A study for P.S. Krøyer’ final masterpiece, the iconic “Midsummer Eve Bonfire on Skagen Beach” (1903), was sold for DKK 4.3 million and a classic Danish Golden Age painting by C.V. Eckersberg from Rome (1819) was sold to the art museum ARoS for DKK 1.5 million.

Krøyer’s final masterpiece, the artist's family and friends can be seen around the iconic Midsummer Eve bonfire on Skagen's beach, where sparks are flying and people’s faces are lit up by the bright summer night. The study is auctioned off at Bruun Rasmussen’s upcoming international auction on 28th February.
