CasinoCanada Roundtable: C-Levels from Kiron, 1X2 Network and Gaming Corps on Alberta's First iGaming Results

As Alberta begins its journey as Canada's second competitive regulated iGaming market, CasinoCanada.com brought together three industry experts to discuss the opportunities, challenges and long-term implications of the province's market opening.

Robert Kowalski, Account Manager, North America at Kiron; Chris Reid, Commercial Director at 1X2 Network; and Adam Pentecost, Chief Revenue Officer at Gaming Corps, shared their early impressions of Alberta, comparing its development with Ontario's successful regulated market and exploring what the province's launch could mean for operators, suppliers and the wider Canadian iGaming landscape.

"Alberta now gives us a second market to learn from," said Kowalski. "That means we can start looking at what carries across provinces and what does not."

The roundtable also examines the importance of channelisation, with experts identifying the movement of players from unregulated operators into the regulated ecosystem as one of the key measures of Alberta's success.

"Success would mean Alberta becoming a standard part of operators' Canadian strategies, rather than a market they treat as secondary to Ontario," said Pentecost, adding that early indicators show growth across turnover, GGR, active players, and average bet.

The conversation also explores the growing role of content differentiation as Alberta matures. Looking beyond Alberta, the roundtable considers what the province's launch could mean for the future of regulated iGaming across Canada.

"Ontario showed that the model could operate at scale. Alberta now gives us the chance to see how well it can travel," said Kowalski.
