Technology, regulation and cost pressures have combined to fuel a revolution in airline travel payments. Alternative forms of payment are no longer alternatives. NFC-based mobile payments and virtual cards continue hyper growth trends. Commercially-focused regulations, such as open banking in the UK, hold the promise of more direct payments between the travelers and airlines.
