IATA World Financial Symposium

Event date 23 September 2019 – 26 September 2019

Location JW Marriott Turnberry Resort Miami, Florida

This year's theme is around Shaping a Sustainable Future Together among airlines, IATA and their partners.

IATA WFS 2019 will touch on the following topics under this banner, including:

  • The overall positive financial conditions of air transport the past few years, with passenger growth expected to double in the next 20 years.
  • This growth brings opportunities, as well as a responsibility for the industry to ensure it expands in sustainable conditions.
  • Macroeconomic and geopolitical factors will bring turbulence in the coming years, while new digital players will disrupt the financial and distribution landscape.
  • The digital transformation of airline finance to support business growth has, therefore, become essential.

CWT's Dave Holmes, vice president, payments, Global Supply Chain Partners will be a keynote speaker on September 25, Wednesday, from 4:30 to 4:50pm on:

The View of the TMC

Technology, regulation and cost pressures have combined to fuel a revolution in airline travel payments. Alternative forms of payment are no longer alternatives. NFC-based mobile payments and virtual cards continue hyper growth trends. Commercially-focused regulations, such as open banking in the UK, hold the promise of more direct payments between the travelers and airlines. Do any of these trends signal the future of things to come in corporate air travel payment? If so, what does this mean for airlines and their TMC partners?

Details on the agenda can be found here.
