Molslinjen acquires ForSea – expands network of ”floating bridges” between Denmark and Sweden

Backed by EQT Infrastructure, Molslinjen A/S has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire ForSea from Igneo Infrastructure Partners. ForSea is the sole operator of Roll-on/Roll-off ferries between Helsingør, Denmark, and Helsingborg, Sweden. ForSea will, under new ownership and in collaboration with Molslinjen, continue its long-term growth and sustainability journey in the Nordic region.

During 2021 Aurora made 92.5% of its crossings on battery power. CO2 emissions were slashed by 54% (20,500 tonnes) compared with the baseline year of 2016.

ForSea publishes its 2021 Sustainability Report

The reduction of CO2 in all of ForSeas operations, including investment in a new battery pack for the Tycho Brahe ferry, forecasts for the year suggest that ForSea is well on the way towards achieving total CO2 emissions in 2022 that are fully 70% less than those in the baseline year of 2016.

Increasing the battery capacity on board Tycho Brahe by 50% will enable ForSea to further reduce emissions, benefitting the local environment and passengers.

New Chairman for ForSea

With his experience from the transport and travel sector, it is expected that Christian Clemens will successfully continue the work of cementing ForSea’s position as a key player in the Öresund Region

On Saturday 27 June, Denmark will be easing its restrictions on travellers to and from the Skåne Region in Sweden. ForSea is therefore increasing the frequency of its services and opening up the cafés and shops.

On Saturday 27 June, Denmark will be easing its travel restrictions on all residents in Skåne, Blekinge and Halland Region in Sweden, and for all travellers who are transiting Denmark on their way to destinations within Scandinavia. ForSea is therefore increasing the frequency of its services and opening up the cafés and shops on all 3 vessels.

The Board of Directors of ForSea AB have appointed Kristian Durhuus as the company’s new CEO. He will join ForSea on June 15th.
