AKQUINET receives funding for innovative projects in port logistics

Hamburg/Bremerhaven (Germany). AKQUINET's port and terminal sector is active in numerous innovative projects. Two have now been funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research through the Research Allowance Act. Both projects aim to increase efficiency and sustainability in port logistics.

Project CarView

The first project, "CarView", aims to develop an innovative 3D visualization software that optimizes the planning and loading of ships in universal port terminals. The basis for the development is the CHESSCON software platform from AKQUINET for the visualization of container terminals. It is designed for the standardised mapping of container storage spaces. Now, with the "CarView" project, the software has been further developed in such a way that it offers a detailed representation of the entire port layout in real time, including vehicles and project cargo varying in size and shape. Thanks to special shader programming, over 100,000 objects can be visualized simultaneously and filtered according to up to 100 attributes, such as color or brand. This significantly improves planning processes and efficiency when loading ships and storing cargo.

Projekt CHESS CON ELECTR

The second project, "CHESS CON ELECTR", focuses on the development of dynamic simulation software for the planning of electrified port infrastructures. The aim is to enable more precise and ten percent faster planning in order to reduce CO2 emissions and improve the energy balance. The software simulates the placement and design of charging stations and the energy consumption of electric vans and cranes, taking into account dynamic and stochastic influences. This is used to analyse the influence of the charging processes, including required traffic, on the operation in the terminal. This innovation promises a significant improvement in planning accuracy and productivity in container terminals.

AKQUINET's port and terminal sector is known for its specialized software solution CHESSCON for terminal and port logistics. It is used at leading terminals around the world to promote efficiency and sustainability. With these new projects, AKQUINET once again underlines its commitment to technological innovation and its contribution to the further development of the global logistics industry.
