IT Education Goes Academic
heise and German UDS Join Forces
Hannover, February 3, 2026 — The heise media group and the German University of Digital Science (German UDS) in Potsdam have agreed on a strategic partnership for IT continuing education. The cooperation combines practice-oriented IT video courses from the heise academy with academic recognition through ECTS credits, creating a novel educational offering for IT professionals.
The collaboration addresses the growing demand for qualified IT continuing education: heise provides its portfolio of IT video courses, while German UDS develops these into accredited university courses in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. “This creates a unique combination of hands-on IT expertise and academic recognition,” explains Johanna Heise, Managing Director of the heise academy.
The courses are enhanced by German UDS with additional learning components such as assignments and knowledge assessments and are offered as international ECTS-eligible micro-credentials. “Our goal is to give IT professionals worldwide access to high-quality digital education with academic added value,” emphasizes Prof. Dr. Mike Friedrichsen, Managing Director of German UDS.
AI-supported translations will make the courses available internationally. German UDS ensures compliance with all higher-education regulatory requirements. Marketing will be carried out jointly.
The first IT courses are scheduled to start in mid‑2026.
With this partnership, heise and German UDS position themselves as innovative providers in the growing market for digital higher education in the IT sector.
