JOYNEXT extends its commitment to sports in Dresden
Dresden. JOYNEXT is extending its naming rights sponsorship for the JOYNEXT Arena and reaffirming its long-term commitment to Dresden as a hub for sports and business. With this move, the technology company and the municipal sports facility operator Eigenbetrieb Sportstätten Dresden are continuing their successful partnership.
Since acquiring the naming rights in 2022, the name JOYNEXT Arena has become firmly established. Whether it is home games for the Dresdner Eislöwen, public ice skating, handball and volleyball events, or even the Dresdner Eismärchen, the arena now stands year-round as a venue for elite, youth, and recreational sports, as well as a wide range of leisure and event offerings.
For JOYNEXT, the extension is more than just the continuation of a naming rights sponsorship: “Over the past few years, the JOYNEXT Arena has become a visible symbol of our connection to Dresden. This is where elite sports, youth development, recreational sports, and shared experiences come together. As a company with strong roots in the city, we want not only to drive economic growth but also to take responsibility for local community life. That’s why we’re continuing this partnership with full conviction,” says Stavros Mitrakis, CEO of JOYNEXT.
Jan Donhauser, the city’s mayor for sports, emphasizes the partnership’s importance for the city: “In JOYNEXT, we have a strong regional partner that combines innovation with social commitment. The naming rights sponsorship enables important investments in the arena’s sustainable development and strengthens Dresden as a sports hub. Together, we are creating the best conditions for
elite, youth, and recreational sports, for international events, and for attractive leisure activities. I am very pleased that we will continue on this successful path together in the future.”
Revenue from the naming rights sponsorship is being channeled into the sustainable modernization of the JOYNEXT Arena. In recent years, this has enabled the implementation of numerous measures to increase energy efficiency and future viability. These include the switch to LED lighting, connection to the district heating network, a modernized building management system, and a new cooling system for the speed skating track.
JOYNEXT is also consistently driving forward the sustainable development of its own locations. At its Dresden site, approximately 55 percent of the electricity consumed already comes from renewable energy sources; the company’s own photovoltaic system covers about seven percent of its annual demand. By 2033, JOYNEXT aims to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50 percent compared to 2023.
