Latest: Price Chopper Picks ItemMaster as Exclusive Provider

ItemMaster, a product content and data technology vendor for the CPG and retail industry, has been selected by Northeast supermarket chain Price Chopper to serve as its exclusive provider of enhanced content.

The retailer operates roughly 130 stores under the Price Chopper and Market 32 banners in the Northeast.

Called wellnessMaster, the ItemMast solution will give shoppers the ability to further customize their experiences with transparent, correct, consistent product attributes including those related to health and wellness lifestyle factors.

In an effort to increase its focus on personalized service, transparency and shopping by diet, Price Chopper will rely on Chicago-based ItemMaster to provide a complete omnicommerce solution for product information, regardless of whether the shopper is looking at a print circular, shopping online or accessing information on her mobile device.

The partnership is vital to accomplishing the retailer’s established goals of providing consumers with accurate product data and images for national brands, fresh products and its own brand, PICS by Price Chopper, across all shopping channels.

“At Price Chopper/Market 32, we want our customers to have access to the best product data and images to help them make informed decisions based upon their health and wellness interests,” said Scott Evans, senior vice president of sales and merchandising. “We plan to use the enriched product attributes to fuel consumer guidance programs.”

Last year, 30% of U.S. consumers purchased goods online. With the preference toward e-commerce expected to grow, the challenge for grocers is to expand the availability of their e-offerings to consumers. About 47% those online shoppers rated high-quality product images as the most influential factor when purchasing a specific brand, making mobile apps and a strong social media presence a must.

“Our solution will create a single source of product information, and its accurate data, enhanced product attributes and lifestyle-driven insights will help with Price Chopper/Market 32’s goal for innovation,” said ItemMaster chief executive officer Dev Genevan.
