Time to nominate
Nordic Optical Awards 2020 takes place in Copenhagen on the 25th of April. Nordic Optical Awards is a part of the NCLF, Nordic Contact Lens Forum, but next year the event stands on its own. It will be an amazing award night recognizing the people that push the boundaries within the optical industry.
Myopia Management - A brighter future for our children!
Myopia Management is one of the key topics for discussion at the Nordic Contact Lens Forum (NCLF) 2019. Erik Robertstad has practised optometry in Norway since 1998 and was awarded the title “Optician of the Year” at the 2018 NCLF event. Here he looks at how myopia management is improving the lives of young patients all around the world.
SiHy – the way forward for daily disposables.
Karen Walsh has been practising optometry for more than 20 years. Since 2015, she has worked as a clinical scientist at the Centre for Ocular Research and Education (CORE) in Waterloo, Canada. Contact lenses have always been an area of specialism for Karen, and she will be delivering a presentation at NCLF 2019 on the commercial benefits of Silicone Hydrogel (SiHy) in daily disposable lenses.
The long and the short of it – How multifocal contact lenses are changing the view for presbyopic patients.
Professor James Wolffsohn is associate Pro-Vice Chancellor at Aston University in the UK. His main area of study is in presbyopia research. Professor Wolfssohn will be addressing the NCLF event on 27th April to discuss the science behind the development of optical designs in multifocal contact lenses.
Putting multifocals in the shop window
Peter Ivins has spent 40 years in optometry, mainly in commercial practice. Presbyopia - or long-sightedness - affects many older people, but the industry has been slow to recognise the commercial potential for multifocal lenses in presbyopic patients. Peter will be speaking at the NCLF in April to highlight the opportunity that multifocals offer practitioners globally.
SiHy daily disposables – The future of contact lenses
Lyndon Jones has more than 30 years of experience in optometry and is a Fellow of both the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) and the American Academy of Optometry (AAO). Lyndon was part of the team that pioneered the development of Silicone Hydrogel (SiHy) contact lenses in the 1990s. He will be speaking about how SiHy has evolved over the last 20 years at the NCLF event at the end of April.
As part of the long-term strategy for the NCLF to deliver and exceed your expectations on the level of professional expertise, the NCLF will from now on run every second year. See you all in 2021 for the next NCLF.
