Huawei partners with Eliud Kipchoge and the dsm-firmenich Running Team
The dsm-firmenich Running Team, which includes marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge, is entering into a partnership with Huawei, a global leader in smart wearables. As of June 2025, Huawei has delivered over 200 million wearable devices worldwide. By combining technological innovation with insights from elite-level running, the goal is to support more precise training and improved performance for runners around the world.
As the official technology partner of the dsm-firmenich Running Team, Huawei will be involved in the team’s work on developing training methods and performance analysis for running. The partnership focuses on how technology and data can be used to support both elite athletes and recreational runners in their training.
Eliud Kipchoge is one of the most accomplished marathon runners in the world. During his career, he has completed a marathon in 1:59:40, demonstrating new possibilities for endurance running. For Kipchoge, running should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, level, or goals. He sees running as a way to promote health, activity, and community. In November 2025, after completing the World Marathon Majors and receiving the Seven Star medal, he launched a new initiative: running seven marathons on seven continents, with the ambition of encouraging a more active lifestyle and creating cross-cultural connections.
To realize this ambition, Kipchoge sought a partner with global reach, advanced technology, and a large user base. Huawei has been active in health and fitness for over twelve years and, as of June 2025, has delivered more than 200 million wearable devices globally[1]. The company was also a leader in global wearable shipments during the first three quarters of 2025. Through its focus on technological development and broad user base, Huawei can provide solutions that give Kipchoge and the dsm-firmenich Running Team access to detailed training data and scientific load evaluations, creating the foundation for more precise training and continued elite-level development.
The partnership also strengthens Huawei’s presence in running and professional endurance sports. As part of the collaboration, the company is developing a new advanced smartwatch specifically designed for runners. Insights from elite athletes, including training and competition experiences, will inform the continued development of algorithms and features. The goal is to create solutions that work in practice and make advanced training and health data more accessible to those who want to lead an active lifestyle.
