Using a milk-run system, Panalpina had six months to deliver 3,600 pipes to a gas field in Oman

As part of the milk-run system, convoys of 7 to 10 trucks left the port of Duqm each day, each trailer carrying no more than three pipes. Since no driving was allowed after sunset, every truck traveled from Duqm to the inland site, over the course of two days. Preventive maintenance of the trailers was included in the system, as the trucks had to travel approximately 400 kilometers every day.
