The DSV Panalpina Group has informed employees at the former Panalpina headquarters in Basel about its plans for the location. As part of the integration, overlapping corporate functions and positions will either be cut or relocated to the headquarters in Denmark, which could result in up to 165 job losses. At the same time, the company intends to expand its logistical footprint in the Basel area.

Panalpina recorded stable results for the first half-year 2019. From January to June 2019, Panalpina generated an EBIT of CHF 52.1 million (YTD 2018: CHF 54.7 million) and a consolidated profit of CHF 34.0 million (YTD 2018: CHF 36.1 million), thereby nearly reaching previous-year levels.

In the first three months of 2019, international freight forwarding and logistics company Panalpina improved profitability compared to the same period of last year. Panalpina reported an EBIT of CHF 28.1 million (YTD 2018: CHF 24.4 million) and a consolidated profit of CHF 19.2 million (YTD 2018: CHF 16.6 million).

Panalpina ended the year 2018 with a historic record in Air Freight volumes, a recovering Ocean Freight product and solid profitability in Logistics. For the full year, Panalpina’s reported EBIT increased from CHF 103.3 million to CHF 118.4 million (+15%) and the reported consolidated profit increased from CHF 57.5 million to CHF 75.7 million (+32%).
Panalpina is pleased to join Cargo sous terrain (CST), the Swiss-led consortium set to transform logistics and propel the industry into digitalization. As a shareholder, Panalpina will seek representation on the CST supervisory board and adopt a leading role in developing the CST logistics system and sharing expert know-how.
Panalpina announces the launch of its new state-of-the-art digital customer portal. The portal enables customers to benefit from a wide range of instant and real-time services. It is currently available to selected customers by invitation only and will be launched globally this summer.

Panalpina continues to expand and invest in Kenya, doubling its cold storage space at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to enable more and improved services for its perishables customers in and out of the country.
In the first nine months of 2018, Panalpina increased group profitability compared to the same period of last year. From January to September, gross profit increased from CHF 1,024.8 million to CHF 1,116.2 million. Year-on-year, Panalpina’s EBIT increased from CHF 72.1 million to CHF 83.2 million and the consolidated profit increased from CHF 48.4 million to CHF 51.0 million.
Panalpina brings to the market another industry first with the Less than Container Load (LCL) Ocean Freight hub in Cartagena, Colombia, which connects services in Europe, Asia and Latin America with Central America and the Caribbean. Operated entirely by Panalpina, this new development offers customers more than 30 new LCL services, reduced transit times and greater coverage.
The 2018 air freight peak season is due to begin after Chinese Golden Week. Many trade lanes have already seen double-digit rate increases and further increases are expected. Panalpina has secured extra flights and ensured readiness on the ground and is also testing a new charter tool, which provides an overview of scheduled cargo flights and of all cargo aircraft available for chartering.
Panalpina celebrated 80 years of operations in Italy. The international provider of supply chain solutions flew in its Boeing 747-8F for an exclusive event at Milan’s Malpensa Airport. Panalpina CEO Stefan Karlen talked about the importance of air freight for Italy and Panalpina, the need for speed for the Italian high fashion industry, and Panalpina’s unique Charter Network.
