Canon launches the EOS C500 Mark II – a compact and versatile 5.9K Full Frame next generation Cinema EOS System camera

Canon Europe releases its next generation Cinema EOS System camera – the EOS C500 Mark II. Created with the expertise and technical knowledge at the heart of Canon’s innovative products, and built on the foundations of Cinema EOS System, the EOS C500 Mark II is a compact and versatile 5.9K Full Frame camera. Cinema EOS System, the EOS C500 Mark II is a compact and versatile 5.9K Full Frame camera. The EOS C500 Mark II’s impressive Full Frame sensor, developed and built by Canon, is powered by Canon’s new DIGIC DV 7 processor. Supporting 5.9K internal Cinema RAW Light and 4K 4:2:2 10bit XF-AVC recording, this camera enables professionals to creatively explore Full Frame, cinematic image. It is the first camera in the range with the ability to record 5.9K Cinema RAW Light onto new, faster storage media – CFexpress cards. 

The compact size of the camera provides cinematographers with unparalleled creative freedom. With its flexible, modular design, professionals can configure the camera with different expansion units to suit production requirements. The EOS C500 Mark II is the first Cinema EOS System camera to feature a user interchangeable lens-mount for EF Cinema Lock, and PL, giving professionals a wide variety of lens selection. It is also the first Cinema EOS System camera to support Electronic IS.

Canon Europe has also announced the expansion of its industry-leading 4K broadcast lenses for 2/3-inch sensor cameras with the launch of the CJ15ex4.3B. Offering the outstanding optical performance known of Canon’s UHDxs series, the class-leading CJ15ex4.3B supports a maximum zoom of 15x and a wide-angle focal length of 4.3mm. Now a Canon lens for every broadcast filming scenario, this lightweight (2.19kg) and compact lens enables broadcasters to achieve 4K optical performance, even with its built-in 2x extender, ensuring footage is of the highest resolution – from the centre of the image to the very edges. With viewer demands for 4K content rising, the CJ15ex4.3B is the ideal choice for broadcasters looking to future-proof their content when upgrading to 4K systems and workflows.

Canon extends in addition its line-up of Professional Reference Displays, with the launch of the DP-V3120 – a 31-inch, 4K HDR professional reference display. Offering stunning image quality with industry-leading 2,000 cd/m² high luminance, 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, exceptional accuracy and consistency, wide color gamut, as well as extensive HDR monitoring assist functions, the DP-V3120 is the perfect reference display for professionals creating stunning High Dynamic Range content.
