New webinar about hidden gems in Spain organised by the Spanish Tourist Office

Turespaña, through the Spanish Tourist Office in Helsinki, in collaboration with the tourism authorities of Menorca, Aragón and Castilla-La Mancha, has organised the webinar Hidden gems in Spain 2023, which took place on 10 May 2023 and was aimed at Finnish travel professionals.

The webinar featured three special destinations that are still undiscovered by most of the Finnish population: Menorca, Aragón and Castilla-La Mancha (Cuenca and Toledo). The event started with an introduction by Julio Jiménez, director of the Spanish Tourist Office in Helsinki, who put an emphasis on the many hidden gems that can be found in Spain, which could have a key role in the diversification, deseasonalisation and decentralisation of tourism in Spain.

Then representatives from the three Spanish destinations took the floor to introduce their regions to the Finnish audience. In the first place, the webinar showcased the stunning beaches of Menorca, a beautiful island located in the Balearic archipelago. Menorca is home to some of the most spectacular beaches in Spain, with crystal-clear turquoise waters and pristine white sands. Whether Finns are looking to unwind on the beach or indulge in water sports, Menorca is a destination that offers something for everyone.

In the second place, the Finnish travel professionals were taken into a journey to explore the natural beauty of Aragon, a region located in northeast of Spain that boasts breath-taking mountain landscapes, beautiful rivers, impressive canyons and thrilling downhill skiing opportunities.

Finally, the audience was introduced to Castilla-La Mancha, a region known for its rich cultural heritage. Castilla-La Mancha has some of the most iconic Spanish landmarks, such as the impressive hanging houses of Cuenca and the ancient city of Toledo. In addition, it is the birthplace of Don Quijote, one of the most famous literary characters of all time.

During the webinar, Finnish travel professionals were able to learn more about these hidden gems which are not so well-known among the Finnish population. Besides, at the end of the event, there was a Kahoot! game where the professionals could test what they had learned about these hidden gems.
