Auto sales continue to soar in April 2010

Car manufacturing companies in India have registered good sales in April 2010. Car maker Tata Motors has registered 44 per cent increase in sales as compared to the same month a year ago. The company has sold an aggregate of 54065 units as compared to 37528 units.

A total of 30963 commercial vehicles (compared to 22847 last April) and 24902 passenger vehicles (compared to 14615 last year) have been sold. Exports went up from 1261 units to 3137.

Maruti Suzuki India’s largest four-wheeler auto major, has sold 93,058 units versus 95,123 units month-on-month. Year-on-year, it has seen an increase of 30 per cent. Exports in the period went up by 89% at 13,024 units while domestic sales shot up by 23.4 per cent at 80,034 units.

Hyundai Motor India has also had a good opening to the fiscal with sales of 52,020 units (44,370 units). Of these, the domestic market accounted for 28,501 cars (22,247 units) with exports taking up the balance 23,519 units (22,123 units).
