General Motors launches CNG Aveo Mid-size sedan

General Motors India has launched the CNG fuel version of its mid-sized sedan, Chevrolet Aveo, in Gujarat, at a ceremony presided over by its President and Managing Director Mr. Karl Slym.

The new Aveo CNG is a bi-fuel vehicle with a full-size petrol tank that is one of the most environmentally friendly cars available in India. The car will offer a fuel economy of 18 km/kg. The new Aveo CNG will lessen the running costs by 54 per cent compared to a similar petrol-powered vehicle, and 25 per cent lesser than similar diesel-powered vehicle.

The new Aveo CNG is equipped with next-generation computer-controlled CNG injection technology from Italy. The CNG kit components, including the CNG injectors, selector switch, modified wiring and suspension, are factory fitted. This ensures high-quality and trouble-free service, GM said. The Chevrolet Aveo CNG comes with a three-year/100,000-km standard warranty.

General Motors India witnessed a massive sales growth of 264 per cent of Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Beat cars in Gujarat in Jan-April 2010, as compared to the same month lat year.

The Aveo CNG has been launched at an inaugural price of Rs 6.26 lakh.
