Monterro acquires restaurant tech company Caspeco

Press release -

SaaS company Caspeco accelerates the digitalisation of restaurants together with Monterro.

Leading Nordic B2B software growth investor Monterro has acquired a majority share in Caspeco, a Swedish restaurant tech company that offers a comprehensive Cloud-based platform for the restaurant, hospitality and experience industry. The partnership will enable Caspeco to further develop its solution built to give restaurateurs more control of their finances, help them make smarter decisions - and ultimately run a more profitable business.

“Caspeco is growing while remaining profitable, it has a unique solution, an open company culture, and its customers are both loyal and very satisfied. Combine that with the digitalisation drive across the wider hospitality industry, and it's easy to see how well placed Caspeco is to make the most of its platform's implicit potential and to continue the impressive growth of the business,” says Thomas Bill Revland, co-founder of Monterro and future chairman of the board of Caspeco, adding that the investors will be looking forward to maximising the platform’s unprecedented possibilities for restaurants, hotels and activity centres.

Caspeco helps the restaurant, hospitality, and experience industry become more profitable

Caspeco was founded in 2006 by ex-restaurateur Per Söderqvist. With the help of some smart university students, Söderqvist developed a system to get a better control of his restaurants costs, incomes, margins, and staffing. The exercise gave him a completely new view of his business overnight, and profitability rose. Soon, other restaurateurs approached him wanting to get a better grip on their finances.

Today Caspeco is the market leader in the industry. The company has a turnover of more than 100M SEK and over 135 employees, many of them with experience in the restaurant business with a deep understanding of its ins and outs. The company offers support at every stage of the customer experience, from booking to payment. The systems let restaurant keepers save time and resources, lowering their risk of making mistakes, all while improving communication, increasing profit margins, and making guests happier.

Caspeco’s 2,000 customers appreciate that the platform is easy to use, provides them with a complete solution, and affords them comprehensive support.

“One of the success factors has been our domain expertise. We understand our customers, their challenges, and know what’s needed for a smoother way of working and a more profitable business,” says Krister Fingal, CEO of Caspeco.

“The digitalisation of the restaurant industry is a fact and that’s opening up a world of new opportunities. That’s why it was time for us to find a partner that can support us when we’re taking the next step,” says Per Söderqvist, founder of Caspeco. “Monterro is exactly that type of partner. They have the capital and the competence we need to continue developing Caspeco so we can become an even better partner to our customers. We’ve had a fantastic journey and this is just the beginning.”

Monterro supports with capital and expertise

The partnership with Monterro will help Caspeco accelerate its product development, strengthen its organisation, and expand across the Nordics.

“The investment is exactly in line with our business model,” says Thomas Bill Revland at Monterro. “We will support Caspeco’s accomplished management team and founder with further business development. We’ll also add expansion capital to make room for further development of the product and the organisation. We’re really looking forward to this long-term partnership,” he says.

Monterro has acquired a majority stake in Caspeco but the founder and the operational owners will remain as significant owners.

About Caspeco
It all started with a popular restaurant that wasn’t profitable and an excel sheet that turned the loss into profit. Today, the excel sheet has transformed into four complete cloud based systems for restaurateurs and the wider hospitality industry. The business idea remains the same: to create profitability so that Caspeco’s customers can focus on taste and customer experience.
