Local Charity Children of the Dump Open Office in Paradise Plaza

Local Puerto Vallarta charity Children of the Dump has announced the opening of their Nuevo Vallarta office at Paradise Plaza on the upper level of the shopping center adjacent to Paradise Village. The office is accepting donations for toys, non-perishable food, school supplies, and shoes for children of all ages not only during their annual Christmas children's drive, but throughout the rest of the year as well.

This charity is an important cause for Puerto Vallarta, as Children of the Dump actively rescue children living in the most impoverished location in all of Vallarta: the city garbage dump. The children who have been helped by Children of the Dump were falling between the cracks of the system before the charity was established in 2006. They were given the opportunity to receive a proper education, clothing, and access to a more normal childhood.

Without a proper address, none of these children were registered with the government, and were denied access to schooling. Many of these children come from generations of families living within the vicinity of the dump. Forced to forage for scraps of food to eat, metals to sell, and other throw-aways from our materialistic culture, these families are trapped in this existence without third-party intervention.

Children of the Dump charity is planning to build homes for some of the families living at the Puerto Vallarta dump this winter season, costing as little as $5000 USD. Other programs run by the charity include english classes, Co-op store, school sponsorships, medical treatment, and many other necessities of life.

Organizing a daily trip from the resort to visit the Children of the Dump charity and the children who receive this care is one of the Paradise Village activities provided to our guests. As a resort attracting many types of people, offering a varied list of activities and events is one of the ways Paradise Village differs from other all-inclusive hotels.
