Nick's initiates a sweet collaboration with the Child Diabetes Foundation in Sweden

Nick’s initiates a collaboration with the Child Diabetes Foundation to increase knowledge about type 1 diabetes and encourage donations for research. Diabetes is one of the worlds’ fastest growing chronic disease and the majority with this diagnosis live in low- and middle-income countries. Given that diabetes is a major cause of mortality, morbidity, and health care expenditures, addressing this chronic disease is one of the greatest global health challenges of our time. A challenge that Nick’s is ready to face.

The collaboration came naturally as Nick's was founded by Niclas Luthman, who was diagnosed with prediabetes in 2013. This forced him to change his diet and he struggled to give up on his two favorite treats – chocolate and ice cream. But Nick is not the person that gives up. As a mechanical engineer by trade, he teamed up with food enthusiast and made thousands of experiments until the products were perfected and launched. Today, Nick’s offers snacks and ice cream have low impact on the blood sugar, no added sugar, gluten and palm oil, for everyone to enjoy - even for diabetics.

November is the month of diabetes in Sweden, an extension of WHO's World Diabetes Day, which occurs on 14th of November. Nick's mission is to raise awareness and encourage people to donate money to research. In Sweden the Child Diabetes Foundation’s hero color is blue and in honor of that we have created a campaign that encourage people to bake blue things "Gott med blått " (Bake it Blue). The campaign will be activated through collaborations with food influencers, influencer gifting, social media give away and in-store activation.

Nick's also donates a portion of its sales on their website, at the online pharmacy Apotea and participating ICA stores. ICA Maxi Stormarknad Lindhagen (Stockholm) has also baked a blue cupcake made from Nick's Use Like Sugar which will be sold for the benefit of the Child Diabetes Foundation in Sweden.

Consumers are encouraged to support the campaign by donating money to Child Diabetes Foundation and to share and tag their blue recipes with @nicks and @barndiabetesfonden_ tagged with # gottmedblått on social media.
