Offenbach, December 21st 2010  Hyundai’s European sales continued to grow in the month of November, with the marque reaching a market share of 2,7% last month, up from 2,4% during the same period in 2009.  The year-to-date figure remains at a steady 2,6%.

The efficient i-range line-up has once again proven to be hugely popular among European buyers.  The cornerstone of Hyundai’s European product range, the i30, has already sold over 100.000 units in 2010, translating to a 23% increase compared to the first 11 months of 2009.  The company’s i20 supermini has also seen sales increase by 15% compared to 2009.A key contributor to Hyundai’s success in 2010 has been the C-segment SUV, ix35, with 102.000 orders in Europe since its launch in March 2010.  Further strengthening Hyundai’s position in Europe has been the newly launched B-segment MPV, the ix20, which has sold 4.655 units since going on sale at the beginning of November.

Allan Rushforth, Vice President at Hyundai Motor Europe, commented, “As we enter the final weeks of a potentially record-breaking year for Hyundai, we must look ahead to 2011 and the opportunities it will bring.  We have laid the foundations for another excellent 12-month period in Europe, with vehicles such as the ix35 and ix20, and initiatives such as the transparent warranty package, Five Year Triple Care.

“In 2011, our focus will be on increasing market share through organic growth by introducing to Europe a number of new vehicles in new segments for Hyundai, including the exciting D-segment challenger, i40.  These introductions, coupled with enhancements to our retail network, will help elevate Hyundai to a new brand position on the continent,” concluded Rushforth.
