Nammo to sponsor award for best young aerospace journalist

Nammo is proud to announce that it will be this year’s sponsor of the award category “Best Young Journalist” during the annual Aerospace Media Dinner in Paris on 18 June 2017. Nammo CEO Mr. Morten Brandtzæg, himself an avid aviation enthusiast, says the company through its sponsorship wishes to emphasize the importance of investing in the future of trade journalism.

“The media industry is under significant financial pressure, which forces a lot of young journalists to become generalists, covering everything for everyone. In this environment, it is important to recognize those that still invest time and effort in developing the in-depth knowledge and understanding needed to cover more complex topics, such as the aerospace industry. I am personally encouraged by the fact that we see a new generation of capable and dedicated journalists doing just that. They represent the future of aerospace trade journalism, and that is something we wish to reward,” says Mr. Brandtzæg.

The Nammo Group consists of six business units operating in 12 countries, supporting both military and commercial customers. Among its core products are ammunition and tactical rocket engines, and in both market segments its aerospace offerings are among the most advanced and capable systems available anywhere in the world.

“In Nammo we believe that those doing an important job deserve the right equipment. We are always looking for new and innovative ways of providing that equipment, whether it is creating a whole new generation of ammunition for the F-35, or developing world’s most advanced hybrid rocket engines. In my view, our efforts are strengthened by the presence of a strong trade press, as it helps inform our stakeholders about the work we are doing, and ensures that we are being held accountable, as we should be,” says Mr. Brandtzæg.

Peter Bradfield, the Founder of the Aerospace Media Dinner said:

“I am delighted to welcome Nammo as the sponsor of the Best Young Aerospace Journalist Award. I appreciate that they have been kind enough to show their support and recognition of young journalists. I see this Award as one of the key Awards of the evening, in the fast changing world of media we need to encourage as many young journalists into the aviation sector as possible, I congratulate and thank Nammo for their help in making this possible.”

Nammo is an international aerospace and defense company headquartered in Norway. With nearly 2200 staff spread across 23 sites and offices in 12 countries, Nammo is one of the world's leading providers of ammunition and rocket engines for both military and civilian customers.
