NIELSTORP+ ARCHITECTS SILVER WINNER OF MIPIM ASIA AWARDS 2019

At the award ceremony in Hong Kong on the 27th of November, the architectural offices' placement on the winning podium was revealed. In the category Best Office Development, NIELSTORP+ architects won the silver award for their design of "The Home of China Eastern Airlines" in Shanghai, China

MIPIM Asia Awards 2019 — is the prestigious awards otherwise known as the “Oscars of the Asian real estate world”, and the Norwegian company NIELSTORP+ Architects is the only Nordic winner at this year's awards. Niels A. Torp was Chief Design Officer on the project. At the awards ceremony Project Manager Øyvind Neslein accepted the award on his behalf.

The company won an architectural competition for the design of the 245 000m² large headquarters with room for 15 000 employees, called "The home of China Eastern Airlines" at Hongqiao Airport, Shanghai. The project was completed in 2018.

The CEA headquarters stands out among the airport's environment, with low rise buildings, proximity to park landscapes and social meeting places.

"Having worked in the building since 2018, the staff have found the layout to be very well planned. Movement through-out the building is logical, efficient and smooth. It reflects the designer's depth of understanding of the Aviation industry and clearly matches the needs of CEA. The relocation of departments such as AOC, flight, and crew within the new building has been seamless. NIELSTORP+ architects has been one of Norway's most productive architectural offices since it was founded 1984, with significant projects nationally and internationally.
