Once complete, Noida International Airport in Delhi, India will serve the fast-developing region between Delhi and Agra. The airport aims to become the first net-zero airport in India.
In collaboration with Grimshaw Architects and Haptic Architects and Assystem STUP we created an airport with a unique identity that is unmistakable of its place. The terminal design provides a pragmatic simplicity in its layout, which secures ease of operations, efficient flows and intuitive wayfinding.
Inspired by Indian architecture and traditions, we included a variety of design elements. The generous landside forecourt will be a meeting point and destination for the public, a place where families, colleagues and friends can linger at departure or arrival. Intricate ornamental lattice screens and flights of steps at the forecourt representing the famous ghats of Varanasi. By using a local palette of materials, colour, texture and patterns, combined with extensive use of greenery, this will be an airport unlike any other, and one that is truly of its place.
We always strive to elevate a sense of place in our airport projects, creating a connection between passengers, culture and history. Browse our other airport designs here: https://nordicarch.com/projects/transport
