Norsk fotograf med tredjeplass i Sony World Photography Awards 2018
The World Photography Organisation utmerker i dag den norske fotografen Werner Anderson med en tredjeplass i kategorien Still Life i den profesjonelle delen av fotokonkurransen Sony World Photography Awards 2018.
Anderson vinner tredjeplassen med sin serie Scar som viser restene av bilbomben som eksploderte utenfor regjeringskvartalet 22. juli 2011.
I serien har Anderson gått tett på motivet, og jobbet ut i fra et svært selektivt fokus. Om bakgrunnen for vinnerbildene sier han:
– Da bilbomben eksploderte i min hjemby Oslo, var jeg langt unna på et idyllisk hotell. Uten tilgang til TV eller radio lurte vi på om dette var en ulykke eller terror. Sjokket slo oss morgenen etter da vi fikk vite at 77 mennesker hadde blitt drept og mange andre var alvorlig skadet.
– Serien Scar er mitt forsøk på å forstå hva som skjedde i min ganske fredelige hjemby. Bildene er mørke, splintene er skarpe og dødelige. Bildene viser det som er igjen etter bilbomben i Oslo 22. juli 2011.

Også andre nordiske fotografer gjorde det godt i årets konkurranse. Svenske Fredrik Lerneryd ble kåret til vinner av kategorien Professional Contemporary Issue for sin bildeserie Slum Ballet som viser unge ballettstudenter i sitt klasserom i Nairobi, Kenya. Danske Rasmus Flindt Pedersen vinner tredjeplassen i kategorien Professional Current Affairs & News for sine bilder kalt Mosul Liberated.
Mer enn 320 000 bidrag fra over 200 land ble sendt inn til Sony World Photography Awards 2018. Det er ny rekord for konkurransen, som arrangerers for 11. gang i år.
