Dette vil muliggjøre objektiv, sammenlignbar og helhetlig registrering av velferd, og danne utgangspunkt for videre arbeid med bransjestandard. Løsningene vil være åpne og fleksible, slik at de kan brukes som referanse for fremtidig standardisering i bransjen.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Delmål &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br&gt;1. Å kartlegge eksisterende tilnærminger for automatisk registrering av velferdsindikatorer hos de ulike teknologileverandører (AP1).&lt;br&gt;2. Å kartlegge konkrete bruksområder og behov hos nøkkelaktører som benytter velferdsregistreringer (AP2).&lt;br&gt;3. Å utarbeide et kunnskapsgrunnlag om automatiske velferdsregistreringer (AP3).&lt;br&gt;4. In Norwegian waters, this zone may hold more biodiversity than the sea above, yet it has barely been explored. The HYPERS project will shine a light on this overlooked ecosystem. The team will use advanced sampling and species identification techniques to study little-known groups such as hydrozoans, comb jellies, arrow worms, and tiny crustaceans. Their work could reveal species never before recorded in Norway—and perhaps even species new to science.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Bakgrunn:&lt;/strong&gt; I evalueringsrapporten til marinfisk-programmet NUMARIO ble utvikling av flekksteinbit som oppdrettsart beskrevet som en teknisk-biologisk suksess i programperioden 1997-2002 (Mehlin, 2002). Til tross for at dette er en bransje som tidligere har vært på randen av kommersielt gjennombrudd er oppdrettet flekksteinbit nå nesten helt fraværende på de nordiske markedene. De siste 5-6 årene har imidlertid arten tiltrukket seg ny interesse men det er behov for både teknologisk og biologisk optimalisering for at dette skal bli en lønnsom næring. En sikker og stabil produksjon av egg/yngel er en forutsetning for dette.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Målsetting:&lt;/strong&gt; Å frembringe ny kunnskap og utvikle protokoller som sikrer en stabil og forutsigbar produksjon av flekksteinbityngel.  Denne kunnskapen skal først og fremst ha nytteverdi for eksisterende næringsaktører, men vil på sikt også kunne føre til at flere aktører innen oppdrett av flekksteinbit. &lt;strong&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

    &lt;p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Full project title:&lt;/strong&gt; Reestablishing Atlantic wolffish populations and restoring intact kelp forest ecosystems&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Partners: &lt;/strong&gt;Akvaplan-niva (project lead Marianne Frantzen), Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Funding: &lt;/strong&gt;Restorae and Trefadder/Vår Energi&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Background and goals:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Long term kelp forest restauration requires a holistic approach and a whole-ecosystem perspective, from the foundation species to the top predators. Along the coast of northern Norway, past coastal fisheries removed predatory fish, including Atlantic wolffish, controlling sea urchin populations and thus triggered an ecosystem collapse during the 1970ties where kelp forests were grazed down and turned into barren ground. To this day, the Atlantic wolffish fish stocks has failed to recover, probably due to late sexual maturity (6–7 years) and limited connectivity between local populations. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Restorae and Trefadder/Vår Energi have allocated funding for the first steps allowing demonstrations of long-term kelp forest restoration in Northern Norway. The aim of the project is to produce 500 Atlantic wolffish juveniles from wild caught broodfish, available for pilot experiments, and controlled release into the wild. Applications of release permissions and fishery protection will be conducted as part of the provided funding. Further, the allocated funding covers the collection of tissue samples (muscle or fin-clip) from 50-100 individual Atlantic wolffish from 3-4 separate geographic areas/fjord along the coast of Troms and Finnmark to prepare for future analysis of the Atlantic wolffish genetic population structure (pending financing).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Akvaplan-niva and NIVA are responsible for defining the scientific work and interpreting the scientific results from the project, including any follow-up steps to be defined and sought financing for during/after the project period. I første fase av FoU-arbeidet tilknyttet denne tillatelsen var fokus på postsmolt og effekter av ulike utsettstidspunkt og postsmoltstørrelse. I oktober 2022 fikk Akvaplan-niva en forlengelse av tillatelsen på 780 tonn MTB for en periode på seks år, men med mulighet for forlengelse ved utarbeiding av ny prosjektsplan mot slutten av perioden. Vi har tett dialog med Lerøy Aurura angående ulike problemstillinger som er aktuell for oppdrettsnæringen med tanke på fiskevelferd samt økonomisk og miljømessig bærekraft.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I prosjektet er det fokus på prestasjons- og produksjonsfaktorer hos laksen som velferd, tilvekst, dødelighet og lusestatus, fra settefiskfasen til slakt. For å måle velferden prøvetas fisken på settefiskanlegget og i sjø, for å måle smoltstatus, vannmiljø, gjellehelse, nyreforkalkninger, kjønnsmodning og velferdsscoring i henhold til FISHWELL.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;u&gt;Fase I&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/em&gt;: Effekter av utsettstidspunkt og postsmoltstørrelse, med tanke på å definere fordeler og ulemper ved ulike strategier, med hensyn på prestasjon, helse og velferd i sjøfase. I veldig grove trekk, fant vi i prosjektet I (2016-2020) at vinterutsett av 250 g postsmolt ga resultater som var jevngode med 80-100 g smolt satt ut i oktober. Det ble også pekt på utfordringer knyttet til RAS-produsert postsmolt som kan føre til redusert helse, velferd og prestasjon: yersiniose, tidlig kjønnsmodning, nefrokalsinose og katarakt.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;u&gt;Fase II&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/em&gt;: Fokus på helårig utsett av postsmolt under nordnorske forhold (PROLAKS) samt utprøving av nye produksjonskonsepter. Helårs utsett av større smolt (postsmolt) er en produksjonsstrategi som stadig flere oppdrettere satser på. Strategien kan redusere produksjonstiden i sjø, og øke MTB-utnyttelsen. Mer fleksibilitet med tanke på utsettsstørrelse og utsettstidspunkt gir også muligheter for å tilpasse utsett til sesongmessige variasjoner i smittepress (lus og andre sykdomsfremkallende agens), vekstbetingelser og lokalitetsegenskaper. Τhe EU-funded MARBEFES project aims to bring together 23 research institutes from 15 European countries to evaluate and characterise the links between marine biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, ecosystem services and the resulting society goods and benefits in coastal communities. The surveys will be held across all study areas in a series of Broad Belt Transects from the Arctic, through the brackish Baltic, the marine North Sea coasts and Atlantic, to the subtropical Mediterranean.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

Teste og vurdere mulighet for praktisk implementering av Cumulative Impact Assessment (CIA) på "vannområde" skala i norske kystfarvann med basis i casestudier (AP1).&lt;br&gt;2. Gi anbefalinger som vil støtte forvaltningen i mer effektiv bruk av miljødata og bidra til implementering av CIA som beslutningsgrunnlag (AP1, 3).&lt;br&gt;3. Sammenstille litteratur om “tracers” fra andre viktige påvirkningskilder med sannsynlig overlapp med påvirkning fra havbruk (AP2).&lt;br&gt;4. Identifisere, verifisere og utvikle “tracers” som enkeltvis eller i kombinasjon egner seg til skille påvirkningskilder fra hverandre, og vurdere deres egnethet for norske forhold (AP2).&lt;br&gt;5. Utvikle et beslutningstre/veiledning med metoder og tilnærminger som kan brukes i vannforvaltning og relevant sektorforvaltning når bidraget fra havbruk og andre sektorer til samlet belastning på kystvannmiljøet skal vurderes (AP3, 1 og 2).&lt;br&gt;6. Analysere hvordan bruk av de utviklede metodene kan påvirke dynamikken mellom sektorene i forvaltningen av kystvannmiljø (AP3).&lt;br&gt;7. In the coastal and offshore waters of northern Norway, a tiny herbivorous copepod named &lt;em&gt;Calanus finmarchicus&lt;/em&gt; performs two different vertical migrations. These include daily vertical movements of tens-to-hundreds of meters (diel vertical migration) and seasonal movements of hundreds-to-thousands of meters (seasonal vertical migration) in response to corresponding variations of irradiance, temperature, food availability and visual predation risk. These migrations play a paramount ecological and economic role because vertical behaviour, abundance and phenology of many commercially harvested fish species are linked to these, and vertical migrations contribute to the export of atmospheric carbon into the ocean's deep interior – a key process in the buffering of climate change. However, due to rapid rate of climate change, routine diel &amp; seasonal environmental variability under which these migrations occur keep shifting unprecedentedly, and little is known about how vertical migrations of &lt;em&gt;C. finmarchicus&lt;/em&gt; would respond to these environmental shifts. While the current understanding of the subject matter is rooted in studying the impacts of single environmental variables on vertical migrations, in the proposed project, Migratory Crossroads, we aim to study the cumulative impacts of irradiance, temperature, food and predation environmental shifts expected in future high-latitude marine habitats on C. finmarchicus diel and seasonal vertical migrations. This will be done using a hybrid mechanistic-empirical approach, where predictions of a simulation model with an unconstrained representation of vertical migrations will be validated with cutting-edge high-resolution field data. Prosjektet vil gjennomføres i Produksjonsområde 3 (PO3) og består av fem delprosjekt med klart definerte delmål/resultatmål. FHFs finansiering vil være knyttet til 3 av delprosjektene/-målene.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;em&gt;Delmål&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br&gt;1. Å dokumentere effekt av &lt;em&gt;AcuLice &lt;/em&gt;på infeksjonsrisiko for lus hos oppdrettslaks i ett regionalt perspektiv.&lt;br&gt;2. Å kartlegge effekt av &lt;em&gt;AcuLice &lt;/em&gt;på velferd, stress og helsesituasjon hos laks, berggylt og rognkjeks i intensiv oppdrett (egenfinansiering bedriftene, utenom dette prosjektet).&lt;br&gt;3.
