Spain is synonymous of gastronomy
The unparalleled gastronomic richness and diversity of Spain's cuisine has brought international recognition to the country. Many dishes reflect the history, culture and local traditions of the different Spanish regions.
Valencia is known worldwide for paella. For this reason, every September 20th, World Paella Day is celebrated with a competition that attracts international chefs from all over the world. Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Romania, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Morocco, India and Japan are the countries from which the 12 chefs competing this year to take the crown from Éric Gil, winner of the 2022 edition, come from. Between September 16th and 20th, they will throw all the fuel on the fire to win the title of the best paella in the world.
Two months later, the focus will be on Valladolid, where the VII edition of the World Tapas Competition will be held in November. The theme is free, but there is one condition: The cost of the ingredients used must not exceed the value of €1.80 (180 NOK). September 20th will be the last day to participate. Then, a jury made up of professional chefs (members of the Valladolid Hotel and Catering Association) will select from the recipes received up to a maximum of 15 foreign finalists and 2 reserves to participate in person in the final phase. The test will take place between November 6th and 8th in this city of Castilla y León. The award will consist of three grand prizes of 10,000, 5,000 and 2,500 euros, as well as career recognition for the winners.
