Double Award Win for Widerøe: Named Europe’s Best Regional Airline
Widerøe took home two awards at this year’s ERAA Airline Awards in Belfast. The airline was named Europe’s Best Regional Airline and also received an award for its strong contribution to regional air connectivity and route networks.
“It is a great honour to receive two awards, recognising both the strong network and connectivity we offer our customers and our performance as the Best European Regional Airline of the Year. Above all, these awards are a testament to the dedication and hard work of our people, who go the extra mile for our customers every single day. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together, and this recognition gives us even more momentum to keep improving and innovating. We have an exciting journey ahead, and we look forward to continuing to build on this success together,” says Mr Tore Jenssen, CEO of Widerøe.
Jury highlights strong performance across multiple areas
In its citation, the jury highlighted Widerøe’s strong and comprehensive performance across the business. The judges emphasised the airline’s solid financial results, its important role in maintaining regional air connectivity, leadership and competence development, and industry-leading innovation in aircraft technical operations. The jury also highlighted Widerøe’s focus on its employees, its documented sustainability results, and its efforts to develop the company for the future.
The jury further noted that Widerøe combines strong business performance with an important contribution to society, creating significant value for the local communities it serves.
Connecting communities across Norway
For almost 100 years, Widerøe has played a central role in connecting regions across Norway. The airline serves both large and small communities, providing connections that are important for business, healthcare, education and onward travel across Norway and Europe.
Widerøe accepted the awards on behalf of all its employees who, every day, help keep Norway and Europe connected.
Since 1991, the ERAA Airline Awards have recognised outstanding achievements and performance in the European regional aviation industry. The awards are presented by the European Regions Airline Association (ERAA) and are regarded as among the most prestigious awards in the regional aviation industry. The awards were presented during ERAA’s annual General Assembly in Belfast.
The ERAA Airline Awards are open to all airlines that are members of the European Regions Airline Association and recognise achievements in areas including airline performance, sustainability, regional air connectivity, innovation, and people and culture.
