David Bowie utgir samlingen Conversation Piece

Parlophone Records er stolte av å annonsere David Bowie Conversation Piece, en boks bestående av 5 CDer som også blir tilgjengelig digitalt 15. november. Denne utgivelsen følger Davids musikalske utvikling i perioden fra 1968 til 1969, via sine hjemmeproduserte demoer, BBC radio sessions, studio innspillingene med gitaristen John «Hutch» Hutchinson, og den eksperimentale musikken sammen med pantomime gruppen Feathers. Denne samlingen feirer også at det er 50 år siden utgivelsen «Space Oddity» som singel og Davids andre album, David Bowie (aka Space Oddity).

David Bowie Conversation Piece inneholder 12 tidligere uutgitte låter/demoer fra perioden samt en helt ny miks av Space Oddity (aka David Bowie) albumet fra Bowie produsent Tony Visconti.

Den nye miksen av albumet inneholder nå tittellåten til dette bokssettet ‘Conversation Piece’ lagt inn igjen på albumet i den posisjonen den opprinnelig skulle hatt før den ble droppet grunnet tidsbegrensningen knyttet til vinyl. Tony Visconti sier følgende om sin 2019 miks av Space Oddity albumet:

“It was so much fun to find hidden gems of musicianship with more time to mix the second time around, a guitar twiddle here, a trombone blast there, Marc Bolan’s voice in a group choir and more detail in general that we overlooked all those years ago when the label gave us a week at the most to mix this album. And in the details you will find 22 year old David Bowie, who would soon take the world by storm."

Den 120 sider lange boken som følger med samlingen inneholder også eksklusive, minneverdige ting fra Davids tidligere manager, nå avdøde Ken Pitt, personlige samling, samt fra David Bowies arkiv, og inkluderer bilder fra Ray Stevenson, Vernon Dewhurst, David Bebbington, Ken Pitt, Alec Byrne, Tony Visconti og Jojanneke Claasen.

Notater har blitt forfattet av Bowie ekspertene Mark Adams, Tris Penna og Kevin Cann med hjelp fra David’s livslange venner George Underwood, Tony Visconti, Vernon Dewhurst, Dana Gillespie og John ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson.

2019 miksen av Space Oddity albumet vil også bli utgitt som individuell CD, standard digitalt, 96/24 digitalt og vinyl. De ulike vinyl utgivelsene vil bli tilfeldig distribuert verden over med en blanding av hånd nummererte labels; nummer 1 til 1969 som sølv vinyl og fra 1970 til 2019 som gull vinyl. De resterende album kommer som sort vinyl.

David Bowie Conversation Piece utgis via Parlophone Records 15. november.

Titlene som er merket * er tidligere uutgitte, de to Decca låtene kommer her med et svært oppdatert lydbilde i forhold til hvordan de låt på Deluxe utgaven av Davids debutalbum på Deram. Det er også med en sjelden utgave av Feathers’låta ‘Ching-a-Ling’.
