​RemovAid is Norway's best health startup in 2018 and wins 1 million NOK!

The annual DNB Health Conference is one of the most important days and gatherings for the Norwegian healthcare industry. It is the 9th year this important meeting place is being organized by DNB and Norway Health Tech. There are over 400 investors, entrepreneurs and other interested in the health industry here today.

The companies allowed to showcase their company today are carefully selected. The aim is to connect with potential investors, customers and valuable contacts to further develop their companies. 15 out of 22 companies on the stage today are members of the health incubator, Aleap.

Needle in the haystack
1 million kroner is the prize in the DNB Healthcare Prize that is hosted for the 4th time. It’s a narrow passage the companies have to pass to get to the final. Earlier this fall, selected companies fought in the semifinals that took place at the innovation house, Oslo Science Park. Of the 34 applicants, 6 finalists were on stage in Bjørvika today.

The winner became the young super team in RemovAid!

RemovAid is an ISO13485 certified company that develops and manufactures sterile class medical devices for subdermal implant removals. The contraceptive implant is a rod inserted under the skin to prevent pregnancy. RemovAid has patent protection for the removal of any rod-shaped implant under the skin.

In good company
The winner follows the footsteps of former winners, EpiGuard (2016) and Boneprox (2017). Price money has gone to scaling and faster commercialization of the companies. Epiguard has since sold its EpiShuttle and is now available in Norwegian hospitals and in fields where ebola is unfortunately spread. 

Boneprox is integrated into Norsk Helsenett, found in over 100 clinics and entered into partnership with Aleris and Oris Dental.

Independence Gear develops Dignum, a bathroom multitool that assists people with reduced motor function to live an independent and fulfilling life. Dignum is now available through the Norwegian welfare system, NAV.

Carving Five is the prevention of blindness among diabetes patients by deploying an AI camera for automated retinal disease diagnostics.

Invivio Bionics offers a portable solution for bladder pressure measurements in hospital and at home. Hun løsning impliserer en forenklet procedure, mere præcise målinger, sparede omkostninger, og i tillegg forbedret empowerment og øget kvalitet af livet for patienterne.

Theracule is a Norwegian biotech company developing new therapies for patients with rare neurological diseases.

Eyr lets patients talk to doctors about video and chat. Eyr wants to put the control of your healthcare in the palm of your own hand.
