Axiell appoints new business area director for archives, libraries and museums

Lund, Sweden, September 1 2015 – Axiell, the leading vendor to archives, libraries and museums globally, is pleased to announce that Adam Schatz will join Axiell, as the global director of business area Axiell Archives, Libraries & Museums. John Doolan, who has held the role previously, will take a position as Non-Executive Senior Advisor to the business area and join the board for Axiell Group, where Axiell can leverage John’s extensive industry experience and network to continue to improve the offering and go-to-market strategies.

Axiell is the global market leader with more than 3000 customers in the cultural sector and 18 offices worldwide. During the first half of 2015, revenues grew by 51 %, with maintained margins, which enables Axiell to continue to invest in product development and additional sales and marketing resources. With a strategy to support and develop new solutions in close cooperation with existing and new customers, the organization is now evolving to ensure a maintained pace of innovation and continued focus on customer support. Adam Schatz brings an extensive experience, spanning leadership roles within Sales and marketing, Business Development, Finance, Venture Capital and Investment Banking. Adam has most recently led the Business Model Innovation team in Europe, Middle East and Africa for the US medical device and pharmaceutical company Baxter International.

“Cultural institutions are very conscious of how they want to manage their objects, how to interact with their visitors and with each other, which makes it a fascinating market to be part of. Axiell’s vision is to be a partner to the institutions, to ensure that they can deliver on their vision, now and in the future. That requires us to work very closely with our customers, globally. Adam’s focus will be to ensure that we can enable that and I am very happy to have him join the Axiell team and continue our expansion from the position that John has built for us,” says Joel Sommerfeldt, CEO Axiell Group.

The new leadership will focus on developing Axiell’s offering in North America, Europe and the Middle East. Specific focus will be put on Asia, where John Doolan will drive Axiell’s entry into the market, in his role as senior advisor. Axiell is the only vendor on the market that provides a solution that enables the museum to access all their objects and enrich their collection by leveraging information across the archive, the museum and the library.

“I am excited to join Axiell, an international business with great growth prospects. I am thrilled about the opportunity we have to help our customers in their work to ensure that the data, knowledge and cultural heritage they are guardians of is maintained and shared with the world. Our customers are proud of their collections, which makes it so important for us to lead the development of how these can best be shared with the world through innovative solutions and services,” says Adam Schatz.
