Driving logs with automatic recording of congestion charging

Press release -

Driving logs with automatic recording of congestion charging

Both drivers and companies will be affected when the congestion charge is no longer part of the value of car benefits. In simple terms, this change means that congestion charges as part of private travel and travel to and from work will be taxed as a benefit.

This may mean a significant increase in costs for anyone entering congestion charging zones frequently in Gothenburg and Stockholm, but above all it will mean more stringent demands for correct reporting.

To meet the need for automated administration, there is now a function in DEFA's Plot driving log which means that no manual intervention is required to report on congestion charging.

- DEFA has a unique solution that we know is in demand in the market. It is all a matter of making life simpler with smarter solutions. Our automated solution is hugely appreciated by fleet owners, leasing companies and private individuals who want to save time and money, says Anders Granquist, Digital Director at DEFA.

DEFA has developed a unique database of locations and pricing for all congestion charging in the Nordic countries. All entry into congestion charging zones is recorded automatically in the driving log. When entering such zones, the customer's vehicle information will be used to select the correct pricing level for the congestion charge, and the value will be charged automatically as an expense for the journey. The Plot My Drive driving log also takes into account reductions due to time between entries. The database is synchronised automatically with public sources, so updated price information will always be available.

DEFA's Plot My Drive is the market's leading digital driving log and was launched in Scandinavia in 2017.
