Youth of Europe in spotlight in discussions between Eurofound and H.E. Leonard Sacco

Eurofound’s Executive Director met with H.E. Leonard Sacco, Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to Ireland, at Eurofound in Dublin yesterday to discuss the role of the Agency in providing timely and relevant research, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on youth - on the cusp of the proposed European Year of Youth 2022 - as well as latest findings and developments in telework, hybrid workplaces, and work-life balance.

Ambassador Sacco and Mr Kalfin reflected on the close dialogue and cooperation between the Agency and the EU Heads of Mission as well as the Maltese government, and how the COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted the importance of Eurofound’s work on both a national and European level. They also discussed how, as a tripartite Agency, Eurofound promotes cooperation dialogue between social partners, national governments, and the European institutions, with the next Foundation Forum in March 2022 providing a further opportunity to deepen this dialogue.

H.E. Sacco highly appreciated the research findings of Eurofound, ‘The knowledge you provide gives the possibility to national governments in the EU to take well-grounded decisions, based on evidence with competent analysis and examples of good practices from across the Union’, Ambassador Sacco said.

‘The added value of Eurofound is in the reliable data and analysis our experts produce. We are happy to provide our stakeholders and the larger public with detailed and topical research on the world of work and quality of life, which they use when deciding on socio-economic and work-related policies’, said Ivailo Kalfin, Eurofound’s Executive Director.
