Glunz & Jensen raises performance and delivers independence in the newspaper industry

Glunz & Jensen introduces the HDX NewsSpeed – the fastest violet low chemistry plate
processor on the market with the innovative Gum Barrier™ that prevents carry‐through of
contaminated gum on the plate surface, even at 400 pph.

HDX NewsSpeed is the new standard for newspaper plate processing with highest speed and efficiency and lowest processing cost available on the market today. HDX NewsSpeed is as standard delivered to give optimal processing conditions for both Fujifilm Pro‐VN and Agfa N94‐VCF applications – so customers are free to choose the application of their preference at any given time.

  • Full flexibility in choice of application; Fujifilm Pro‐VN or Agfa N94‐VCF
  • Productivity at 400 pph to match the fastest CtPs like DotLine Vmax
  • Completely clean plates with innovative Gum Barrier™
  • Batch life increased by up to 100 %
  • Maintenance intervals increased by up to 100 % for both processor and plateline equipment

High processing speed and consistency
The HDX NewsSpeed is the fastest processor on the market and is able to process plates at linear speeds up to 3.0 m/min, to easily keep up with the fastest CtP systems up to 400 pph like e.g. the DotLine Vmax 400.

“We are very excited about the HDX NewsSpeed from Glunz & Jensen. It runs much faster and with much longer intervals between internal required services, giving us lower maintenance costs and more flexibility in our planning. The HDX NewsSpeed is the fastest and best dimensioned plate processor on the market for newspapers today and it takes plate processing to a new level in terms of quality, stability and maintenance,” declares Klaus Klim, IT and CTP Manager at DAT.

Clean plates cut the maintenance frequency by more than 50 %
HDX NewsSpeed delivers very clean plates, no press contamination, less maintenance on conveyor and punch/bender and higher productivity. The integrated Gum Barrier™ cleans off any contaminated gum still on the plate and prevents carry‐out of contaminated gum to the plate line after the processor. “The HDX NewsSpeed saves the user a lot of time on cleaning punch/bend equipment, as the processor leaves virtually no contamination on belts and conveyors. The HDX NewsSpeed can easily run more than 3,000 large format plates without change of chemistry and still deliver very clean plates. This saves the production team many hours of cleaning compared to any other processor on the market”, explains Peter Riis Klausen, Service Technician at DAT.

Ground‐breaking Gum™ Barrier delivers perfectly clean plates

Both the Fujifilm Pro‐VN and Agfa N94‐VCF systems are developed to use only simple gum/finisher step(s) to wash‐out the plate, so it is considered a more simple process compared to traditional chemistry developed applications. Without the traditional rinse steps there is a significant reduction in water consumption and water waste, which greatly contributes to an environment friendly solution.

On the HDX NewsSpeed we introduce the extra water rinse step; the ground‐breaking Gum Barrier™. The water consumption of the Gum Barrier™ for a full production week is as little as 3‐4 litres, but still there is no water waste. The consumed water is continuously re‐used inside the processor to compensate for water evaporation and drag‐out from the wash‐out steps, and it further helps to maintain a stable gum/finisher volume and to increase the batch cycle of the processor 50 ‐ 100 % depending of the application.

“With the HDX NewsSpeed we have not only raised performance and independence for newspaper printers using violet low‐chemistry plate. We have also increased the maintenance interval for the prepress line! The water enabled Gum Barrier™ on the HDX NewsSpeed prevents carry‐through of contaminated gum on the plate surface. It means cleaner plates, less maintenance, fewer faults and higher productivity – in short it is time and money saved,”  says: Simon Jensen, Business Director at Glunz & Jensen.
