Press release -

Gothia Towers official partner of Scandinavian Invitation

The Scandinavian Invitation – Sweden’s national open and premier golf event – returns to the Hills Golf & Sports Club in Gothenburg between 22nd - 25th August. Gothia Towers, part of the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre Group, is now the official hotel partner for the prestigious tournament.

“We are proud and happy to be welcoming the players, their families, coaches and officials to our wonderful hotel and conference centre for the golf tournament, which carries such strong traditions. We receive guests from near and far daily and are constantly striving to exceed their expectations and offer that extra, which we also look forward to doing as a proud partner of the Scandinavian Invitation”, says Sam Sultanovic, Director of Sales at Gothia Towers.

As exclusive hotel partner, Gothia Towers will also serve as the central meeting venue for Scandinavian Invitation’s partners and business network. The tournament will arrange a variety of activities, focusing on sustainability, and a seminar will gather high profile speakers under the banner of “People, Planet, Profit”.

“We see Gothia Towers as an important partner, offering our stakeholders first class experiences whilst maintaining a focus on sustainable business and the environment. The hotel’s proximity to the golf course is of great value”, says Claes Nilsson, Commercial Director for the Scandinavian Invitation.

This is the second year in a row that Hills Golf & Sports Club hosts a tournament on The European Tour. In 2018 the tournament went under the name Nordea Masters and had 70,000 visitors. At least as many are expected this year and ticket sales are already in full swing.

“We recommend that everyone who does not want to miss this year's big golf happening in Sweden, on the beautiful Hills course, to secure their tickets now”, says Claes Nilsson.

  • Scandinavian Invitation takes place Thursday 22nd to Sunday 25th August 2019 at Hills Golf & Sports Club in Gothenburg, Sweden
  • Tickets to Scandinavian Invitation are available at www.scandinavianinvitation.se with "early bird" prices until 14th of April.

About The European Tour
The European Tour celebrates men’s professional golf on a global stage, combining innovation, diversity and world-class golf. In 2019, the European Tour International Schedule will feature a minimum of 48 tournaments in 31 countries, including eight Rolex Series events, all part of the Race to Dubai.

Celebrating the global connectivity of the European Tour and Dubai, the Race to Dubai is a season-long competition to crown the European Tour’s Number One player, an honour which in 2018 went to Italy’s Francesco Molinari for the first time, and which, since 2009, has also been achieved three times by Rory McIlroy, twice by Henrik Stenson, and once each by Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer, Luke Donald and Tommy Fleetwood.

Since its formation in 1972, the European Tour has witnessed 28 Members celebrate a total of 54 Major Championship titles between them, enjoyed 11 Members attaining the pinnacle of World Number One and has celebrated its diversity as players from 36 different countries have won on the Tour.

The European Tour also manages the developmental Challenge Tour and the Staysure Tour (formerly known as the Senior Tour) which is the men’s professional golf tour for members aged 50 and older.

The European Tour is also the Managing Partner of Ryder Cup Europe, the body which, alongside the PGA of America, administers golf’s greatest team contest, The Ryder Cup. In 2018, the 42nd staging of the biennial contest between Europe and the United States of America took place at Le Golf National, France, from September 28-30. Europe were the victors with a score of 17.5-10.5.

The European Tour broadcasts live coverage of its tournaments to more than 490 million homes in more than 150 countries every week, generating in excess of 2,200 global broadcast hours for each event. It also enjoys the support of many of the world’s leading business brands with Rolex, BMW, Callaway, Dubai Duty Free, Emirates, and Hilton as Official Partners.

The Scandinavian Invitation is an event with a rich history as a part of Sweden’s European Tour Events and the list of former champions is filled with golfing legends. Seve Ballesteros, Greg Norman, Tony Jacklin, Sir Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie, Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Vijay Singh, Adam Scott and Graeme McDowell are among the many European Tour legends to have triumphed in the past, while home favourites Jesper Parnevik and Alex Norén have each claimed the title twice during their decorated careers.
