Press release -

SaaS company TimeEdit partners with Monterro to accelerate its international expansion

Monterro, leading Nordic growth investor in B2B software companies, has acquired a majority share in Swedish SaaS company TimeEdit. The company develops and markets a flexible cloud-based academic scheduling and planning tool that optimises the use of resources and facilities, and ensures a more efficient scheduling process for educational institutions. TimeEdit is the market leader in the Nordics and the partnership with Monterro will enable it to accelerate its international expansion and become a global leader.

“Higher Education is a niche with great potential to become more digitalized, and where TimeEdit has the capability to become a global market leader”, says Gustav Lagercrantz, CEO of Monterro and future Chairman of the Board of TimeEdit. “Monterro’s expertise lies in supporting Nordic SaaS-companies to scale up and expand internationally, so we’re happy to be part of TimeEdit’s growth journey. They are already market leaders in the Nordics, with a valued brand, strong growth and very satisfied customers. Together we will take the next step, both within and outside Europe”, he continues.

TimeEdit is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, and its platform is used by more than 150 universities and other educational institutions across the Nordics and Benelux, helping them optimise the utilization of facilities and resources, and schedule courses, exams and other activities—even in the most complex environments.

"We have been market leaders in the Nordics for years and we’re incredibly proud of growing across Europe, especially in Benelux, where we help universities such as UGent, TU Eindhoven and Utrecht to optimise their scheduling and planning. Our partnership with Monterro comes at the perfect time. We're establishing ourselves internationally and it’s now time to scale up”, he continues.

“We are facing a very exciting digitalization phase in higher education, where we see an increased demand for improving several areas of the planning process,” says Johan Hörnell, CTO at TimeEdit. “We’ve always been innovators in our industry, and we’re looking forward to continuing building a suite of applications that enable our customers to deliver a higher-quality education,” he adds.

Since it began in 2012, Monterro has supported the growth and international expansion of several SaaS companies, including Lime, Itello and Outpost24.

“Unlike most firms that only invest capital, we offer something different. Our expertise in software strategy and operational support, combined with our experience in building SaaS companies and expanding them overseas, is something all the companies in our portfolio benefit from”, says Gustav Lagercrantz. “TimeEdit has a strong and ambitious executive team and we’re really looking forward to teaming up with them”.

“We connected with Monterro a couple of years ago and have seen how they’ve supported the growth of other software companies. We are now in a phase where a partner like Monterro is perfect for us,” says Johan Blomdahl. “They offer both the capital and competence we need to become the global market leader”.
